For a few dollars more

Nothing fancy today. A quick sketch from a freeze frame of the movie. Not that he looks anything like Clint Eastwood :)

Life drawing

Ok, it's about time I did some life drawing, isn't it? It's really from a photo and I used willow charcoal stick for the first time. I love it, you hardly have to put any pressure to make a line and shading while smudging with a finger is super fast. It hardly feels an effort..

Head bust

I bought a new book about shading with pencil and there was a photo of this head bust inside... It was a great shading exercise.

This was an exercise in imaginative drawing while using early 20th century clothing and furniture as a reference.

False lead

His source appeared to be not as reliable as he thought.. Station 13-F has been derelict for almost 2 years.

Octopus

Lazy Sunday doodle. It's one of those drawings when you have no idea what's going to come out, you just put down the pencil and those first random strokes suddenly start to give you an idea..

David Cronenberg

I found a b&w photo of him in the Empire magazine that had this amazing, almost comic book like contrasts. Aww, real life portraits are so hard...

Portrait 2

Here I tried to use a 19th century clothing for a reference and stylise it a bit.

Sometimes you just cannot hold it

I started with a head without knowing where this was going in the beginning. Then it just felt like it's looking behind the shoulder...

New year greeting card

Here we go.. drawing No. 1 In the eastern part of my country there is an area famous for storks nesting on the chimneys. I decided to combine this with the Santa myth resulting in a bit of an awkward situation..

New year resolution

This blog represents my 2012 new year resolution where I decided to make at least one drawing/painting a day. I have been drawing sporadically for almost a decade now and sometimes several months have passed without making a single drawing. I realised I regret those periods of not honing my drawing skills, so this is a way to force myself to spend at least 10 minutes a day drawing. There are no plans on the the subject of the drawings, it may be a figure, still life, a composition exercise, a character, something abstract or just a drawing of my half used tooth paste. Whatever comes to my mind on a given day. It may be just a quick simple sketch or a more elaborate work if I have more time or energy. Whatever keeps me put down a pencil every day of this year and be creative. The idea is to update my blog every day by posting that drawing followed by a short comment if I feel like it. If for some reason I miss a day, I will make it up by posting two drawings the following day or several if I miss more. So by the end of this year I should have at least 366 drawings (yep, it's a leap year). Ok, enough talk, let's start drawing...
